Well, as always Valentine's Day crept up and I was left with about 5 hrs to come up with something. It isn't the lidded box that I had planned on but my sweety did pick out the wood a few months back. It is Rosewood with a small turquoise inlaid dot in the center. I wanted to inlay a heart but that wasn't going to happen with the time that I had. It is about 6" across and finished with EEE, BLO & Mylands friction polish.
So...what did you turn your Valentine?

Jess,
How did you get that finish. It looks incredible. I'd appreciate knowing. What is the E finish, and others. I know BLO is Boiled Linseed Oil. I am sure others want to know as well.

The EEE is from Shellwax and is pretty much a sanding compound. I sand to 400 and then apply EEE and the friction takes the piece about 5 times whatever grit you stop with. Ex- 400 will then be 2,000 , 1000 will be 5,000.
Love the stuff. The BLO was and experiment before I applied the Myland's friction polish. I really like it though.

well actually it was a vicmarc chuck but it's alright. And the lathe is a JWL1236. It's good enough for me. If I need a lathe with more power I'll use the PM90 at my high school.
