Default What did you turn for your Valentine?

Well, as always Valentine's Day crept up and I was left with about 5 hrs to come up with something. It isn't the lidded box that I had planned on but my sweety did pick out the wood a few months back. It is Rosewood with a small turquoise inlaid dot in the center. I wanted to inlay a heart but that wasn't going to happen with the time that I had. It is about 6" across and finished with EEE, BLO & Mylands friction polish.
So...what did you turn your Valentine?

For some reason the above picture thumbnails show up as red boxes when you are not logged in, but once you log in, or do a fresh log in, both the thumbnails and full size pictures that you click on show up in all their beauty. "It's not called networking, it's called not working".

Jess,
How did you get that finish. It looks incredible. I'd appreciate knowing. What is the E finish, and others. I know BLO is Boiled Linseed Oil. I am sure others want to know as well.
Bob

The EEE is from Shellwax and is pretty much a sanding compound. I sand to 400 and then apply EEE and the friction takes the piece about 5 times whatever grit you stop with. Ex- 400 will then be 2,000 , 1000 will be 5,000.
Love the stuff. The BLO was and experiment before I applied the Myland's friction polish. I really like it though.

Jess,
Where can I get some of those products? Are they available online? Bob

Rockler, Woodcraft or Craft Supplies USA are my supplyers. I believe the EEE is about $20 for an 8oz tub but it lasts me over a year. There are several types of friction polish but I believe Myland's to work best for me.

Jess that bowl is beautiful well done! if you want to put a lid on it say of ebony wood I have the perfect carving that would compliment it, its a picture of a seated angle with long flowing robes, or it could be done in white corian and hand painted

Wow imagine that appearing in a national publication. Custom bowl created by Jess Wetherhold, A-Skewed Creations with a hand carved top by Michael Anthony.
